According to police reports, officers responded to a call about a young man behaving erratically outside a strip mall. When they arrived, they found a 22-year-old standing in the parking lot, waving his arms and loudly arguing with… himself.
Bodycam footage shows the officers approaching calmly, trying to figure out what exactly was happening. “Sir, are you okay tonight?” one officer asks, to which the man confidently replies, “I’m totally fine! I just fired myself from my own company!” — before dramatically tossing his car keys onto the pavement.
Trying to keep things professional, the officer continues questioning him, but it only gets stranger. The man begins pacing in circles, declaring that he’s a “sovereign citizen” and that “laws don’t apply” to him. His bizarre monologue leaves the officers visibly fighting back laughter.
When asked for ID, the man refuses, insisting, “You don’t need my name — my aura speaks for itself.” One of the officers, managing to stay composed, replies, “Okay, well, your aura is about to get arrested if you don’t cooperate.”
At that point, the man attempts to “negotiate his freedom” by offering to perform a freestyle rap “to prove his innocence.” The footage captures the surreal moment as he starts rapping about “freedom, loyalty, and parking lots,” while officers exchange amused glances.
After several minutes of this back-and-forth, the officers finally place him under arrest for disorderly conduct and public intoxication, but even during the handcuffing, the suspect can be heard saying, “This is all part of my reality show!”
Despite the comedic tone, police later clarified that the man was not aggressive and cooperated peacefully once detained. He was taken to a local station, held overnight, and released the next morning with a fine and a mandatory wellness check.
The video has since exploded online, with viewers praising the officers for keeping their cool — and their composure — in a situation straight out of a comedy sketch. “They deserve Oscars for not cracking up,” one commenter joked. Another wrote, “I’ve seen stand-up comedians less funny than this guy.”
A police spokesperson confirmed the department’s focus on professionalism: “Our officers encounter unpredictable behavior daily. The goal is always to maintain safety, even if that means keeping a straight face when things get absurd.”
