Thomas Matthew Crooks was spotted by officers at the Butler Farm Show carrying a rifle. The FBI later confirmed that a SWAT officer had identified him as a “suspicious person” and took his picture. In this incident, two people died, including Crooks and a spectator, and two others were critically injured. A spokesperson for Trump stated that he was “fine and being checked out at a local medical facility,” and later Trump took to social media to confirm he’d been shot on the “upper right part of my right ear.”

At his inauguration, Trump addressed the attempted assassination, saying, “I was saved by God to make America great again.”
